Welcome to the portfolio and artistic explorations of Anna Sycamore DeMers.

I am a Movement Director. Often referred to as Physical Theatre, my work starts from and with the physical body: to create story, dialogue, character, and the space. I approach a project with various tools including visual, physical, and sound ideas. I work with an ensemble to explore, discover and create. Like a sculptor, my job is to guide and help shape the movement and visual images created with the bodies of the performers.

My work is Collaborative. I believe in working with an ensemble. Collaborative work creates a higher level of commitment and connection between director and performers, because they participate with the entire creation. Collaborative work also allows for more complete incorporation of movement, dialogue, and music creating a seamless theatrical environment.
